SSM at Expo 2015

The project Swiss School of Milan at Expo 2015 started more than a year before the Universal Exhibition opened its doors. After a first presentation in June 2014, all the teachers were involved in developing didactic units on the issue of Expo 2015 – “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life” – after a kick off meeting with official Swiss consular staff and a workshop with an instructor for teachers of the Expo School Project. The didactic work continued for three months across all levels of the school, namely from kindergarten to high school. All those materials have been published on the websites of Progetto Scuola of Expo 2015 and of the Swiss Embassy in Rome (see links on the left).

The second part of the Expo 2015 project consisted of a project week, where all the teachers together with their students, devised a performance format to be presented at the Swiss Pavilion. The two days at the Swiss Pavilion were intense and unforgettable for all the students and adults. The productions were very rich and well done, from theatre to dance, from research and interviews to performance art and even a non alcoholic bar invited the public to talk together.

The project SSM (Swiss School of Milan) at Expo 2015 has been conceived and organized by Barbara Fässler and Hilda Orelli since 2013.
