Playground Design
Twelve year old year 6 pupils are here considered as the greatest specialists of playgrounds, as they are nearing the end of childhood and a year later they will be adolescents who won’t bother anymore about kid’s stuff. After a long series of examples viewed together, the pupils start to write their checklists of the indispensable elements and of their own fantasy-ingredients. The next step is a description of the particularities, a series of sketches and drawings to visualize the ideas and in the end the construction of a three-dimensional model of the playground. The pupils are also invited, throughout the process to search for different materials (if possible recycled) which correspond best to their ideas and to bring them to school in order to use them.
