Gli alberi di Pitagora

The installation “Pitagora’s trees” was part of the group show “NA/NT.06.04”, curated by Domenico Lucchini and Sara Seringhelli at the ISR Istituto Svizzero di Roma, Milan venue and the artist’s space O’Artoteca in the Isola area in Milan. Barbara Fässler’s intervention consisted of 5 photographs printed on Plexiglass and mounted on the five windows. The whole space became a light-box and the pictures were illuminated by the entering sunlight. The trees were photographed in the baroque Rundala Palace in Latvia. The pictures of those geometrically sculpted trees with a cylindrical form, underline the continuous antagonism between nature and human intervention: as soon as the branches have grown again, making the form imprecise, the gardeners will cut them into perfect form again.
