Le socle du monde

The title of the photographic series is inspired by Piero Manzoni’s sculpture declaring the whole planet as Ready-Made. Or in this case, the greek sculptures in the Louvre, feet bear the weight of the whole western culture through their idealistic and perfect marble body. This means Greek sculpture and culture is the foundation of our contemporary culture and bears it on its shoulders just like Atlas bears the whole planet. As Jean-Luc Godard says: we should pay two Euros to Greece each time we pronounce the word “logic” or the term “therefore”.
