Rotoreliefs

The photographic series “Rotoreliefs” is inspired by Duchamp’s turning plates with the same title. Barbara Fässler has elaborated five photographs in photoshop with a very strong circular filter, in order to obtain the effect of a heavily rotating disc and a totally abstract, but very dynamic picture. The curious effect in these art works is that one still feels the materiality of the photographed subjects and objects, although the form has become totally alienated from the original. The photographs have been applied on aluminium and cut in a circular form of one meter in diameter.
